Sliver of a Moon:
The True Story of the Violence Against Women’s Act and Its Impact on Native American Women
Over 3000 Native American women and Children are reported missing or dead. In spite of efforts from every Tribe there are no statistics or reports for the number of Native American Women who are abused, raped, murdered or taken. The Violence Against Women’s Act created the first declaration, funding and expansion of Tribal Jurisdiction in 250 years. Sliver of a Moon is the true story of four brave Native American women that appeared before the US Congress and told their story to obtain this result.
This presentation is timely in today’s current environment. Come listen to the story of these women and learn about varied and complex nature of laws and cross jurisdictional practice of law in Indian Country.
Presenter/Moderator: Robert O. Saunooke, Esq.
